I am pleased to announce, as part of our ongoing endeavor to become the provider of choice in the region; we will be opening Juneau Behavioral Health to the entire community starting Monday, June 1.

Increased access to these services in Juneau has been in demand for quite some time. While we have offered behavioral health services to all residents in other communities for many years, our behavioral health services in Juneau were previously available only to Alaska Native/American Indian patients.

The expansion of Juneau Behavioral Health services community-wide is now possible due to the department’s recent move to the former SEARHC Administration Building. The site at 1046 Salmon Creek Lane provides substantially more space and can, therefore, accommodate additional patients.

The larger space will also provide much more room for groups, as it has a dedicated group room, as well as larger offices that can be used for small groups. Beginning in June, there will be daily chemical dependence groups, several mental health groups, and an art therapy group. The cultural groups will continue to be open to the entire community; it is not necessary to be an established behavioral health client to attend.

Our Behavioral Health program is committed to the emotional well-being of those we serve, and we look forward to delivering care and support to the community of Juneau.
