Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital adds speech therapy to growing list of services

SITKA, – SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital is pleased to be adding speech and language services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Those services include help with feeding and swallowing issues, stroke rehabilitation, and other speech and language disorders.

In order to provide these critical therapies, SEARHC has contracted the services of Suzan Hess, MS, CCC-SLP. Suzan earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. She has a special interest in early intervention, child development, infant-child mental health, swallowing disorders and stroke rehabilitation.

Ms. Hess and has worked as a Speech and Language Pathologist in the Sitka area since 2000 and will be available at the Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital campus on an as-needed basis. Patients that receive a referral from their primary care provider can make appointments through the SEARHC physical therapy department.
